What is a double flap airlock valve?
At its simplest, a double flap airlock valve is a “flap” style check valve which is powered open and closed to move dry material from one process pressure environment to another.
Plattco Double Flap Airlock® Valves are unrivaled in the industry.
- Valves are designed to handle temperatures up to 1800°F / 980°C. Thermo-expansion issues are eliminated making our technology the ideal high temperature airlock.
- The proprietary thru ported design of the internal sealing components, the seats and flappers, eliminates product build up and bridging.
- Air blow-by is all but eliminated. One flapper is always closed to maintain a pressure differential. Seats and flappers are heavy duty cast up to 650 Brinell and wet ground within .003” clearance when leaving the factory. Compare this to the minimum of .008” clearance between the housing and rotary vanes of a new rotary airlock valve. This translates to an estimated 66% reduction in air leakage (fugitive/tramp air) when using a Plattco valve.
- Erosive wear is minimized and maintenance of the sealing components are made easy. The housing is not a part of the seal. Internal sealing components can be safely and quickly changed in line.
- Patented mechanical shaft seals can be applied to eliminate bearing and seal failures which often result in housekeeping issues and hefty fines.
